Project Description

The Avatar project is a pioneering blockchain-based Voluntary Carbon Credit Marketplace, designed to revolutionize the way we approach carbon neutrality. In this innovative platform, users can easily purchase and retire carbon credits, effectively neutralizing their carbon emissions. The process begins with trusted providers converting real carbon certificates into Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), which encapsulate the details of the carbon certificates, including the specific amount of carbon emissions they offset. Providers then fractionize these NFTs, turning them into ERC20 tokens, which are received in their digital wallets. These tokens represent carbon credits and can be traded on the marketplace. A key feature of the platform is the ability for users to retire their chosen certificates using USDC or ETH through our custom exchange, a fork of Uniswap V2. This ensures transparency and addresses a major challenge in the carbon market - greenwashing. By providing a clear and efficient pathway to trade and retire carbon credits, the Avatar project stands at the forefront of leveraging financial tools for environmental sustainability, embodying the principles of public good and ReFi (Regenerative Finance) to combat climate change.

How it's Made

Our project is a pioneering ReFi initiative aimed at democratizing the carbon credit market. In our team, we have Damla, Mete, and İzzet, who bring their prior experience in public good, ReFi, and carbon projects. Damla, an architect and designer, took charge of our project's UI design, visual elements, and presentations. Our developers, Mete and İzzet, were instrumental in designing and coding a functional MVP.

In terms of technology, we developed our smart contracts using Hardhat and leveraged libraries from OpenZeppelin and Uniswap. We deployed the project on the Scroll Sephlia testnet and verified it on the explorer. For the interface, we utilized React, and WalletConnect was our choice for wallet integration.

Additionally, we deployed a subgraph with TheGraph for NFTs and smart contract indexing, integrating it seamlessly into our frontend. Our team collaborated closely, complementing each other's skills, and focused on innovative solutions at every step, ensuring our project contributes to the public good
