Project Description

Chain probabilities based on Laplace Demon.

Laplace demon is a theory where a hyper-intelligent being can predict all movements in the universe if knowing the exact position of all particles with their past, current, and future impetus.

In an open universe, this has been criticized as not possible due to time and computational limits by Robert Ulanowicz and Yvan Velenik of the Department of Mathematics for the University of Geneva. To analyze and parse all the particles in our universe, it has been argued that there wouldn't be enough time since the universe's origination to calculate and process all its information.

However, in a blockchain system, we have a closed universe where we also are aware of all the past (Ethereum Ledger), current (Beaconchain), and future (Mempools), particles (TXs or Bytes).

Having the exact location in a closed system of each byte in combination with the rules and logic of the Ethereums computational system gives us the playing field to apply our hypothesis.

Our project is about the research of criticism, counter-argumentation, the potential creation of proof, and a future model of this theory.

Our end product of this hackathon is the hypothesis of this application of theory.

How it's Made

We initially started with defining the steps of what should be done.

  1. Research Laplace Demon in-depth, its critics, and compare this to our current blockchain system

  2. Research how our current consensus system, mempool, and beacon chain functions

  3. Compare this research and apply this with our foundations of Laplace

  4. Create the hypotheses

To be able to do this, we used the following technologies:

Mentor Brains Polygon Brains Hacker Brains Internet Laplace Brains Educational papers criticizing Laplace Big Brains behind Ethereum Consensus mechanisms
