Project Description

ETH.me is:

  • A seamless Web2 to Web3 Gateway: We provide a direct, seamless bridge between web2 and web3 environments, comparable to services like eth.limo and eth.link. It facilitates easy access to web3 contents directly through browsers.

  • High customizability and web2 friendliness: We designed a customized protocol that personalizes ETH.me's entry points to either web2 URLs or web3 storage. This includes linking social media profiles such as Twitter and GitHub to ENS names or setting up web3 sites with user-selected IPFS gateways, offering freedom for users and businesses to mapping anything from Web2 to Web3 for their ENS names.

  • Decentralized architecture: All interactions with ENS and data redirection are handled client-side, eliminating the need for server-side processing. This approach ensures that users do not have to rely on our platform for data integrity or the availability of backend services on blockchain data processing, enhancing trust and security.

  • User-friendly and codeless: ETH.me is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, requiring no coding skills or client software installations. Users can access and manage their web3 content directly through a browser without a wallet extension, simplifying the transition from traditional web experiences to decentralized technologies.

  • Enhancing the existing ecosystem: ETH.me enriches the Ethereum/ENS ecosystem by offering an alternative web3 portal, providing 1 more choice for users to manage their digital identities and decentralized content, while adding resilience and diversity of the ecosystem.

How it's Made

The client side js utilized web3.js to access blockchain, through the Alchemy provider. All ENS data retrieval and redirection processes are executed through client-side JS, ensuring that neither blockchain data nor user browsing data is accessed from the server. This architecture upholds our commitment to decentralization.

We integrate The Graph API for its decentralized indexing capabilities, which significantly enhances response times with an additional caching layer.

To maintain compatibility with existing ENS gateways, ETH.me supports IPFS for decentralized file storage and access, hosting web3 pages. Additionally, we've developed a customized IPFS gateway, eth2.me, allowing browser access, though users can also opt for other gateways like Infura and IPFS.io.
