This integration ensures that rent payments are not subject to the volatility typically associated with cryptocurrencies, providing both tenants and landlords with financial stability and peace of mind.

Security Deposit Vault: A standout feature of RentFi is its unique security deposit vault. Tenants can deposit their security deposit into this vault, where it's not only safely stored but also has the potential to earn interest over time. This approach transforms security deposits from dormant funds into a source of passive income, benefiting tenants financially.

How it's Made

In this project we used:

  • Zustand for stand management

  • Framer Motion for animations

Something sort of hacky is we stored live state as JS objects.

This integration allows for streamlined smart contract interactions, enhancing the user experience while ensuring robust security and efficiency.

Next.js Framework: The client-side of RentFi is built on Next.js, a React framework that enables server-side rendering and generates static websites. This choice contributes to a fast, web-friendly application, crucial for the smooth operation of our platform, especially in handling real-time data and transactions.

Viem for State Management: State management within RentFi is handled by Viem, a lightweight and efficient tool. Viem’s integration ensures that the application remains responsive and agile, maintaining a consistent and reliable user experience across different components and data states.

Wagmi for Ethereum Interactions: Wagmi, a set of React Hooks, is used for Ethereum blockchain interactions. It simplifies complex blockchain operations, making it easier to connect wallets, fetch data, and send transactions, thus enhancing the user's interaction with the Ethereum network within RentFi.

React Ecosystem: The front-end development of RentFi extensively utilizes React, a popular JavaScript library. React’s component-based architecture allows for a modular, scalable, and maintainable codebase, ensuring the application is robust and future-proof.

Progressive Web App (PWA) Technology: RentFi is designed as a Progressive Web App, ensuring a high-quality user experience across all devices. This approach provides native-app-like features, such as offline support and push notifications, enhancing accessibility and engagement.

Solidity for Smart Contracts: The core logic of RentFi, particularly in managing transactions and vaults, is implemented using Solidity smart contracts. These contracts govern the deposit, interest accrual, and rent payment processes, ensuring trust and transparency on the Ethereum blockchain.

GHO Stablecoin Integration: Utilizing the GHO stablecoin for transactions is a strategic choice. It provides a stable and reliable medium of exchange, insulating users from the volatility typically associated with cryptocurrencies.

Custom Solutions with ConnectKit: A notable aspect of our development was customizing the Family ConnectKit to suit our specific needs, particularly in integrating the GHO stablecoin and managing security deposits within the blockchain environment. Optimizing PWA for Blockchain Interactions: Adapting PWA technology for seamless blockchain interactions was a unique challenge. We implemented specialized service workers and caching strategies to ensure that blockchain data remains consistent and up-to-date, even in offline scenarios.
