Project Description

TrueSnap is a mobile application that aims to restore authenticity to the realm of digital photography. In an era where image manipulation and AI-generated images are becoming increasingly prevalent, TrueSnap emerges as a beacon of trust.

At its core, TrueSnap integrates the process of capturing photos with blockchain technology. When users take a picture through the TrueSnap app, we generate a verified descentralised "stamp of approval". This ensures that the image was actually captured in real-time through the app.

What sets TrueSnap apart is its ability to mint these verified photographs as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) on the blockchain. By doing so, it certifies the authenticity and originality of the photograph.

One of the most significant aspects of minting photographs as NFTs is the immutable nature of blockchain records. Once an image is on the blockchain, its record is set in stone — it cannot be altered or deleted. This offers a long-term assurance of the image’s authenticity.

TrueSnap is not just for photography enthusiasts; it holds immense value for a broad audience. Journalists, for instance, can use TrueSnap to capture and share images that can be verified, which is crucial in today’s fast-paced news environment. Similarly, artists seeking to prove the originality of their work, and researchers or investigators needing to establish the veracity of images will find TrueSnap to be an invaluable tool.

How it's Made

Every time you take a picture with TrueSnap, a hash of it is uploaded to Polybase. When you're ready to mint your NFT, you send the photo to our node server hosted in Spheron. On the server, we generate the hash again from the uploaded photo. If the hashes match, it means the photo hasn't been tampered with. We then upload the photo to NFT.Storage and create a metadata URI with Polybase. We create a signature that you can sign on the app to mint the NFT.
