Project Description

You're at a wedding and you don't know anyone except the groom. Suddenly you receive a notification, sign up, and you're invited to a chat group with everyone else at the party. Someone has created an event and now everyone is making micro bets on everything from the colour of the bridesmaids dresses, the first song, to whether the groom will cry.

The boring drab event where you couldn't WAIT to be over is now a buzz. What are the odds that the grandma will be the one to get the bouquet? What are the odds that the groom cries before the bride? What are the odds that the first song is Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran?

Odz Gamifies the social experience and makes an event more exciting and personal.

I made Odz because I suck at these social events. And I'm sure I'm not alone. Odz is a great way to do icebreakers, to have fun, and to make friends over a common event.

You can use Odz at work, at home, and at the pub. Create a group of people, send out invites, and start making events, questions, and choices. The platform then gathers votes and when the event occurs, your new mates will attest to the actual result. Winners win Odz coins and bragging rights. Odds are dynamically calculated as more and more people choose various options. Be first to get the best odds, or choose the wildcard to win it all!

How it's Made

The key components of the platform are:

  • Web3 Auth for the authentication and authorisation layer. Lets onboard the next billion users without the hassle of wallets, tokens, etc
  • Sign Protocol for real-world attestations where Oracles just don't cut it (what are the odds grandma catches the bouquet of flowers is not going to be available as a data source from Chainlink!)
  • XMTP for secure chat, and ability to chat in groups, programatically interact with the group, and offer these bots and social gamification concepts to encourage user interactions
  • Boring stuff like react, nextjs, tailwindcss, antd, ethersjs, solidity, viem for the backend plumbing
  • Solidity and Arbitrum Sepolia so I can make cheap transactions on-chain.
  • Exploring the option to use a paymaster to manage gas costs for the users
